Gold stenciling in Supreme Court Chambers

Gold decorative stenciling is being applied to the ceiling of the historic Supreme Court Chamber.

EverGreene Architectural Arts is stenciling a decorative paint pattern on the ceiling of the historic Supreme Court Chamber. and soon will be adding the 1888 trompe l’oeil pattern to the walls.

A delicate touch is needed to apply the gold paint, because it is being painted onto acoustical plaster. The design complements historic patterns discovered in other areas of the Capitol.

The project is not only restoring the historic grandeur of the Supreme Court Chambers but also adding important safety features like these new sprinkler heads as part of the new fire suppression system.
