New metal entablature

Earlier this year the new metal entablature on the west wing of the exterior of the Capitol received finishing touches before the final painting to match the stone color. Exterior work on the west wing has been completed and work has begun on the east wing.

One of the historic decorative pediments has been cleaned, repaired, and placed back on the building secured by a new steel structural backing system.

New sheet metal with historic modillions re-attached has been installed on the west wing. The dentils (pieces of metal that look like teeth) are also new.

Sealant is applied before the entablature is painted to match the sandstone masonry.
